A fast clean can still be effective, even though it may have only taken you 30-40 minutes to clean your entire house. Cleaning your home quickly is an art, and takes practice to get a speedy routine down. Here are some tips to help you speed-clean your home.
This should take you five to ten minutes per bedroom, depending on how big the room is and how much stuff you’ve accumulated. Glance around and grab anything out of place, storing it into a bucket or hamper to be sorted later when you have more time. Now, making the bed can be time-consuming, unless you just tuck in the corners of the sheets instead of trying to go all the way around. Then neatly thrown on your comforter and pillows, and you’re done!
Using a microfibre cloth, start from one side of the room and dust every surface as you go along to the other. This will allow you to move in one fluid direction instead of going back and forth across the room. Whether you have hardwood floors or thick carpeting, vacuuming will get rid of surface dust and debris constantly poking at your feet. Use long, firm movements, going from one side of the room to the other, to save time.
This should take you about eight minutes. Remember, this is a quick cleaning job. Spray all-purpose cleaner over your sink, vanity, outer toilet, shower and/or tub and let it sit. While the spray is taking effect, sprinkle baking soda into your toilet bowl and scrub it clean before flushing. Use a glass cleaner to clean all mirrors, moving in circular motions. Lastly, use an old toothbrush to scrub at tight spots before using a microfibre cloth to wipe down every surface. And don’t forget to mop the floors, starting at the farthest corner and ending at the entrance.
This should take you about 12 minutes. If you have a dishwasher, load it up and start the cycle. If not, cleaning your kitchen might take a bit more time. Spend a few minutes gathering clutter thrown across all countertops and put them back in their rightful place. Wipe down the countertops and all appliances with a damp cloth and an all-purpose cleaner before mopping the floor. Remember to use the same technique from the bathroom.
This should take you about 15 minutes. Every quick cleaning job starts with clearing out the clutter. Grab a bin and stash away anything that’s out of place. You can deal with it when you have more time. Grabbing a microfibre cloth, wipe down any dusty surfaces, starting from one corner of the room and moving to the other. Don’t worry about dirt or mites falling to the ground, a quick vacuum will deal with that. For any glass surfaces, use a glass cleaner to wipe them down in circular motions to prevent streaking.
